Overview

In this two-and-a-half-day workshop, you will focus on developing the skills to plan and create stunning landscape photographs. The workshop begins with a three-hour online theory session, where you will learn the fundamentals of landscape photography. On the second and third days, you will take part in three practical sessions each at different locations around Farchant, Mittenwald, Lake Kochel, Grainau, and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Together, we will explore creative perspectives, master long exposure techniques, and use filters effectively and purposefully. Throughout the workshop, you will receive personal tips, individual guidance, and hands-on feedback. Whether you are just starting out or want to deepen your skills in landscape photography, this workshop offers the perfect mix of theory, practice, and personal support.

Hi, I'm Lana...

A National Geographic Explorer and award-winning photographer, named an Emerging Landscape Photographer in 2021 by National Geographic. With over a decade of field experience, I focus on capturing the grandeur and subtle beauty of natural landscapes. With a degree in biology, my work is informed by a deep understanding of ecosystems and the interplay of light, terrain, and seasonal dynamics.

My photography has been published internationally, including features and a cover story in National Geographic Germany, as well as in Terra Mater, BBC Science Focus, Oceanographic Magazine, Wildlife Photographic, and Sony Alpha Universe. As a member of the International League of Conservation Photographers, I combine visual storytelling with an ethical and responsible approach.

Workshop Itinerary

Day 1: Friday, June 12th, 2026

On the first day, we start with an interactive online theory session where we explore the essentials of landscape photography. You will learn to master camera settings including shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and white balance to capture every scene perfectly. We also cover focusing techniques, lens selection, color theory, and composition strategies to help you create striking and memorable landscape images.

Day 2: Saturday, June 13th, 2026

We begin the day with an early morning landscape photography session at Eibsee from 8:00 to 11:00, focusing on image composition and perspective, while working with changing light conditions. After a lunch break, we continue in the afternoon with a photography session at the Kuhflucht Waterfalls from 13:30 to 16:30, where the emphasis will be on long exposure techniques, movement in water, and creative framing. We then have dinner before heading out again in the evening for a sunset and blue hour session at Riessersee from 19:30 to 21:00, capturing reflections and atmospheric scenes.

Day 3: Sunday, June 14th, 2026

The day starts with a morning photography session at the fishing huts in Schlehdorf from 8:00 to 11:00, where we focus on integrating manmade elements into compositions. After a lunch break, we continue with an afternoon session at the Lainbach Waterfalls from 13:30 to 16:30, concentrating on the effective use of filters. After dinner, the workshop concludes with a final evening photography session from 19:00 to 21:00 at the Messnerhaus Chapel at Riegsee, where we photograph the soft evening light against a mountain background.

  • Normal lens (APS-C: 35-70mm; Full Frame: 50-100mm)
  • Tripod
  • ND Filters (ND8, ND 32)
  • Graduated Filters (ND2, ND4, ND8)
  • Batteries (at least 4x)
  • SD cards (at least 3x)
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Water bottle and snacks
  • Rain jacket (weather-dependent)

FAQ

Do I need any special software or equipment to attend the workshop?

Please see the gear list for a detailed overview of the camera equipment needed for the practical session. The theory session will be held online via Zoom, and a link will be provided in advance. Please make sure Zoom is installed on your laptop before the session.

Are there any course materials provided?

Following the theoretical session, you will be provided with a PDF copy of the presentation. This will serve as a comprehensive reference, allowing you to revisit the key concepts, camera techniques, and tips covered during the session at your own pace.

What happens if there is bad weather on the days of the practical session?

The practical workshop will take place as scheduled, unless there is heavy rain. If it rains on the day of the practical session, the workshop will be postponed to the following week.

What is the minimum number of participants required for the workshop to take place?

The workshop can take place if there are a minimum of four participants registered.

What payment methods do you accept?

The course can primarily be booked via Stripe, which supports credit card payments, including Mastercard, Visa, American Express, JCB, UnionPay, and more. Upon booking, you will automatically receive a payment confirmation and a PDF invoice. Is there a refund policy if I cannot attend the workshop?

Should you decide not to participate in the photography workshop, the following conditions apply:

  • 4 weeks before the workshop: 100% refund
  • 3 weeks before the workshop: 75% refund
  • 2 weeks before the workshop: 50% refund
  • 1 week before the workshop: 0% refund
